When was the last time you heard about a group of 5 people getting fired?
No, they weren't stealing. They weren't disclosing company secrets. And they weren't even people who were dead on the job. In fact, they were well respected professionals, long term employees, and people who added value to the company.
What happened? It boils down to a plain case of poor judgment! Officially, inappropriate use of email and the internet. A bunch of guys all having a grand old time. So much fun that they wasted a bunch of company time and ignored the company policy...and it cost them their long time jobs!
My questions are...What the heck were they thinking? Was it worth it?
My point in sharing this...don't get caught in the same trap! Know what your policies are. Don't push the envelope! Assume that every email you send through the corporate system can be tracked and printed...it can!
I'll bet it wasn't a pretty picture going home and trying to explain to their wives.
